Talking crank kill 101 how to murder a 2.3

Has anyone else destroyed a 2.3 N/A crank? i got mine started today with the new 4160 holley carb and snapped the crank... i guess the old addage is true, if your not breaking it your not going fast enough.

Totally different DUDE i never snapped a crank in a 2.3. But i have sheered off the bolts. You must use arp bolts and install them right. We drill the cranks and install larger size bolts on our HI HP motors. That is a common problem in a 2.3 . Be careful and use a blanket. TOM. Does anyone know the secret of starting a new post i have been trying for 4 weeks and NG.

Hi 85 sps makes them. Give them a call or look at their website. The trick is getting the old sheared bults out of the crank. Use a left hand drill bit. Sometimes they will come right out sometimes they dont good luck and take your time and drill them directly in the center. Then use an easy out. They usually come out. Also never reuse the bolts twice. Thats a no no. Good Luck

I think the bolts are metric. 7/16-20 is not the right bolts. I am not at work now but i think the 2.3 flywheel bolts are definately metric. I will check in the AM at work.

Dam i forgot that the shop is swamped with work . I have one in the house i will go check right now. Hang tight? I am back. They are 10X1.0 pitch. Another words The bolt is 10 MM in diameter with a 1.0 pitch thread app 1 3/16 inches long. I had one on my desk down stairs to always remind me not to use stock ones HA HA HA. Did you get the old broken ones out of the crank?? Hay i dont like to say this because its very dangerous. But when the bolts broke wasn't that BANG a real nasty noize?????
