Default what kind of tranny is this?

this auto tranny has 4 gears it says on the shifter 1,2,d,od,my buddies thing its an electronic aod tranny, but i dont know, i cant find anything in the haynes saying anything about it, but i just might be getting blind,lol.its not the original, its been swapped by a friend whos not around no more so no one knows now.

A4LD stock 2.3 trans and also used behind a few other v-6 Ford engines.

I hear those things are a ***** to shift if you drag race too. Something about to get the 3rd you gotta shift back to 1st or something.

if you want a aod to hold 2nd you have to shift back into 1st and she'll stay as long as your foot's into the floorpan.

i just looked in my haynes, it says "tags with the automatic transmission serial number, build date and other information are attached to the transmission housing with a bolt, usually at the extension housing".
my tranny is stock a4ld and the shifter you describe is the same one i have, but you should really double check which kind you have. you also might consider going to a T5 manual when your automatic goes bad (which i'm just itching to do on my pony car). good luck with our mustang!
