dohc anyone? yea guys have done it...but like how many like 10 maybe? all turbos. how about a volvo head swap N/A dohc build. with the 2.3 quick gearing and a t-5 with alittle umph itll move faster than a stock v8 right? you could rev to the moon and youd get mad cfm flowing thru the head. wasnt there and problem with compression? itd be too low or something....whats a problem but something that just needs to be overcome! since you arent goin turbo the build cost wouldnt be more than a built v8 with weight reduction itd have better power/weight ratio. good suspension is a must.

now for the off the wall. how about a BDA rally engine? off the top of my head arent they dohc and you can rev to like 7k makin 250hp. a good suspension. youd be in business.

muahahahahahahaha!...ok sorry.

AWD, volvo head, twin turbo, bump it up to a 2.5, new cams fmic with sprayer for more cooling, stand alone emc, aluminum driveshaft, and a performance airride setup for comfortable cruising and stiffness for racing, and big brake disc's all the way around

where are you getting the awd from lol. just wondering. id love to see an awd fox tho.

twin turbo as innnnn compound? how else? can you twin turbo an i4? theyd be tiny. be better to stay with one right?

IMO stay N/A for fun(maybe for budget reasons) build with forged pistons so you could slap a turbo on it later.

+ 2.5, new cams, alum driveshaft, airride

discs you could get 5.0s up front and a tc disc rear. keep your 4 lugs for sleeper look(fav) with weight reduction braking should be good. if 5.0 brakes can stop a v8 they can stop an i4 alot easier right. or just go full sn-95 5 lug. for more wheel options/bigger brakes/strength/etc.

why am i not doing this right now? i gotta get it together.

the awd wouldnt be all that hard just costly depending on who you know, offroad custom shops can usually build them. and the traction would kick ass

could you not take a 4x4 ranger with a 2.3l take out the low range and set it up so its always in 4wd hence creating an awd? then just drop that in? or is there something im missing here?

im not sure its that straight forward what do i know.

but im pretty sure it takes alot to drive awd so it would eat up hp/tq so i think youd be better off with out it right? slightly wider/sticker tires(emphasis) would be a more logical route. atleast thats what im thinking right now.

thats also if youre sticking n/a if you go turbo you might have alittle more umph to move all that drivetrain. hence stis and evos.

Yeah, if going AWD, turbo would be a must. And I can only imagine right now the immense amount of fabrication and specialized parts that we would need for the front suspension... Maybe if we could use the front drivetrain from on of these Mitsubishi pieces of crap and slap on a 2.3... Or use the entire front sub-frame... The subframe swap would probably be easiest.

What is the wheelbase of an average AWD car? It would have to be somewhat close to a mustangs so that it could make the finishing touches easier...

Good ideas though guys... Keep 'em coming!

Steve

PS: I know you seniors out there have some good ones... wipe of the cobwebs and join in on the fun!

even crazier. supercharge and turbo charge a 2.3 volvo head or not itd be a bad ass build. you can find everything in the junk yard except maybe the aftermarket efi and a few other things.

both have been done why cant they work together?

I really like the SHO motor idea. One from 96 model SHO with the 5 speed tranny. Put the motor up front where it belongs. Somehow make it RWD Then just gut the interior for weight reduction and your done
