I wanted to build a mid-engine fox mustang. As far as awd ever consider the awd aerostars kmember. I have an idea, got it from this rock crawler I seen years Ago that had a saturn Drive train. it was mounted longitudinal with the half shafts replaced with drive shafts creating a monster truck like setup.

J.Rhapsody Like said take the SHO v-6 drive train and put in the Mustang in rear. I would have to a lot calculating to check weight balance. For car to do the best need 50/50 weight. Same on front and rear.
As far as SHO motor I have one and project started. The 2.3 turbo motor going bad shut it down for awhile. Got to build up some money. yea rwd sho motors have been done. i think they are sexy as hell. wouldnt mind having that v6 in my fox with one or two turbos =D. i saw some granny driving a sho the other day i almost pulled gta at a red light. but didnt wanna leave my mustang behind. thats probably the only thing that stopped me.
since this is a crazy idea thread how about a thundebird blower on an sho motor. or some other top mount eaton. cram forced air right into that bad ass motor.
OR
rear seat delete a mustang and toss the motor in the middle. lots of fab work lots of fun. for s and giggles throw another sho motor under the hood. twin engine.
ps....im seriously considering building a N/A dohc 2.3 just for fun. *dun dun dun*

Sure why not put the v6in the front. Keep it front wheel drive. Put the v8 in the rear. All this together = AWD

Every problem has a twin named solution.
You want crazy and fairly easy to do. Take the v-10 put in a Mustang. I heard somewhere makes it a 10sec car. But that is a rumor. I have one in a e-450 service truck and has plenty of power for it. Real surprizing. Maybe I can get it in the future. Boss is about to do a bodyswap out. Getting rid of a e-350 with Diesel last I heard 2000 dollars for the drivetrain with car. I has the good Diesel not the crappy later Ford diesel.

Why not just keep it clean? Drop the stock airbox and replace it with a cone filter, new exhaust set up, take out the stupid air baffle from the intake tube. Put a nice flip out DVD system as the head unit, nice after market speakers. Convert the interior to black, tint the windows and maybe slap some Cobra R wheels with sticky tires on it. Black Corbeau seats to match interior, black out the windows and slap a nice coat of paint on it. Rear seat delete would be good too.
Those are at least the plans for my 2.3L, then a 5.0 swap when the motor blows up. I only have 104K miles, so I'm a bit aways from that still.

That would be easy to do on a hatchback and in my opinion may look cool!!
As for the engine and stuff like that im with Edison. Sometimes simple is better like upgrading the intake and exhaust, throwing on a flowmaster muffler, making a kick butt interior, and other miscellaneous items to make it the best 2.3 in the world.
