Default Shaved Door Kit!

So I want to put a shaved door kit on the 93 hatchback stang. For those of you that don't know about these it is basically a small solenoid motor that pulls your door latch and unlocks your car... WITHOUT A DOOR HANDLE! Therefore, you push a button on a remote and BAM! your door pops open.

Now i'm not a electronic genious or anything so I was wonder if by any chance someone here had done this thereself OR if anyone knew what kind of shop might know how to do this.

Thanks.

Not sure about the How To Install, but we used to call them things "Poppers" back in the day, very popular in the '60s. I'm glad to see somebody else likes the old school tricks. The term Popper comes from the spring plunger that pushes the door open a couple of inches. Without that, the door may do a half latch on you and stay closed.

Figure out what you are gonna do to get in the car the day your battery goes belly up overnight and have it ready to go. Maybe a secondary hood release cable that you can reach from under the bumper will let you charge the battery back up or change it out.

I'd like to see pic's when it is all done up. Every time I look at my S197 door handles. I want them shaved off.

I would say that if it's a hetchback then you could just climb in through the hatch. Just don't shave the key on the hatch...

Sounds Pimp!

Well I'm going to have to replace the driver side door handle as it is broken. Still opens, just looks like S***. So I was going to do the shaved kit. I looked up the instructions and its all easy setting it up, I just can't do wiring well. You gotta route the wires and do some crazy stuff to the fuse block under the dash. I don't wanna destroy the electrical system with one little screwup. And it won't half latch because as long as you hold the button down the latch stays open so you can avoid those situations lol.

AND! Because nothing can be easy, the only way to open the hatch on my stang is to use the button in the glove box. The key doesn't work :/

I should have pics of everything soon.

The sheetmetal shaping and welding part is what would stop me. There's a big hole to fill in the S197 doors but the trunk already has a popper, sorta.

HA!!! That would be the easiest part in my mind... You wouldn't even have to cut out the old metal that the handle sat in. Just cut a piece that fits into that hole and weld it in! Too easy... That is if you own an angle grinder, a welder and some bondo!
