Default 1990 Mustang 2.3 liter missing at times

1990 mustang 2.3 liter.. Blowing black smoke at times, missing out under load or under high idle at times.. no power.. changed plugs/wires cap and rotor.. any ideas?

Okay, I have a few ideas... And btw, this really shouldn't be in this section, it should be in the 2.3 tech section.

1) check the gap of the spark plugs.
2) Check to make sure you have the correct timing: starting at the 1 on the distributor moving clockwise around the distributor the firing order is 1,3,4,2.
3) Make sure you are getting fuel as a fuel filter might be clogged (check with the schrader valve).
4) Leaking spark plugs.
5) Check to make sure all of your emmisions systems are hooked up properly (O2 sensor, EGR etc)
6) Cylinder compression is crap.
7) Check for vacuum leaks.
