Default Powder coat brake calipers..

Does anyone know if you can powder coat brake calipers? I know they have rubber seals, but since they are part of the braking system and so close to the rotor, you'd think they would be able to handle the 450 degree heat that you need in order to cure a powder coated part.. Does anyone know for sure?

I'm sure it could be done . I dont think I would leave the seals in there though .

it is domb to paint, pollish or powdercoat callipers. They act like a radiator for your brake system. You want as rough and bare of a surface as possible for heat transfer to the air

Thats why you get slotted rotors....

Someone better call BAER, Willwood and AP Lockheed Borg and Beck ( just to name a few ) ...and let them know that they are doing it wrong.

I don't care about heat transfer from the calipers, I care about how they LOOK when some gets a peek at them through the spokes of the 16 inch Torque Thrust 2 wheels!

This ain't some high dollar race car that has to burn off tons of braking heat, it's just a daily driver type 66 coupe. Eastwood sells brake caliper paint, but that stuff is 60 bucks and I know paint is never as good as powder coating.

I just don't want to ruin the seals and everything during the curing process. I don't know if they can take the 400+ degree curing heat.

I have had mine painted for years now with no problem and the paint was very similiar to the stuff eastwood sels, very heavy and dries like POR15.

Like I said, I've had mine done for years now and it has held up through open-track events, auto-crosses and a TON of "enthusiastic" driving.

Well if yours are painted and they help up nicely, then maybe I will do that with mine. I'm afraid the seals wouldn't stand up to the powder coat curing, but I need to add some color and make sure they don't get all rusty and nasty looking..

Yes, but make sure to use Brake Caliper paint...its very thick and goes on like POR15.
