will a throttle body from a 87-93 5.0l mustang work on a 89 2.3l mustang? if not, will you be able to use a 91-93 5.0l mass air flow setup with a big bore (65mm) 2.3l trottle body? or do they sell speed density to m.a.f. conversion kits for the 2.3l? any help is greatly appreciated, tanks
Welcome A 94 5.0 will fit the 2.3 done it. Have read not much use on a Non-turbo car. Maf conversion for 2.3 Not that I am aware of for a NA, Turbo can be done with chip and using a wideband to program it. I guess could use a 8plug computer which is MAF and redo wiring and install in old 4plug. Hope that helps. Here is photo's how I did the 5.0 throttle body. On this page and maybe a few more. ok thanks, and ive bored the upper intake and have a cam lifers and folowers (hydrolic roller set-up) but i can still only suck in so mch air because of the throttle body and since its speed density theres no adjusting the mixtures which is why i was looking to run a m.a.f. and saw it done in a mustangs and fast fords mag. so it got me thinkin, but they did it on a 5.0l. any other suggestions for cheap power out of a n/a 2.3? i am looking to turbo it but wanna make sure it can handle a turbo first
yea, i want to get some pistons, rods, crankshaft, etc. out of an svo and get a 2.3 head to have machined and cleaned up. i also want to run a t-5 tans. with a 7.5 t-lok and 4.10s the main issue here is money lol. luckily its my first car so i got plenty of time for this project
also, will i have to run the computer out of a svo? if so, will a 2.3t ranger, thunderbird turbocoupe, or murkur x4ti computer work or does it have to be an svo?
You can use your 2.3 NA head needs changed from heart shape to d-shape, Also need turbo rated valves. Need turbo fuel injectors, Turbocoupe or x4ti computer. The 87-88 turbocoupe computer has most power. Would need vam or chip computer for maf. Rod and crank are same for turbo and NA. t-5 would be good. And the 7.5 also. Now 4.10 now that is geared a little to low. The stock automatic 373 would be good with t-5 or 345 gears. 410 gears may not put enough load on motor for turbo to spool up. I know sounds strange. But to get boost motor has to be under load. Mine will not build boost in park or neutral. Only when driving and under load. When get real serious [ready spend several thousands] PM me and be glad to load you with links to read up on. But the easiest way is a donar rusted out turbocoupe. maurice
