Default 1990 mustang with posi

Hey guys have posted on here in awhile, but I went home to see my folks and got to talking to a family member who has a 25th anniversary edition 1990 mustang convertible with a 2.3l motor and an automatic and they swear it has a posi-trac in the rear. Do any of you guys know if ford did such a thing.

Ford doesn't call their rears positraction. It's a trac loc limited slip. As far as I know all 5.0 equipped cars had limited slip diffs. Not sure about others.

I highly doubt it has a limited slip rear from the factory. The only instances I know of factory Trac-Loc diffs in 7.5" rears were in the ARB line (Aerostar, Ranger, Bronco II)

I highly doubt it. Could look at tag on rearend. You can add one more line of 7.5 limited slip. The 86year and below turbocoupe had limited slip. The 87-88 had 8.8 limited slip. I got a 85 one in my 89 Mustang now.

Thanks for the update. I thought all of the turbo coupes were 8.8's. Now I know better.

Jack it up and spin the wheels. Just like wheel of fortune. Easy to find out. If you can hold one wheel with the tranny in neutral and spin the other its open. If you spin the wheels and both turn its posi. If memory serves me there were not many 7.5 posies (track lock) out there. All TC were posi including the 7.5. Just like 75(welder dude) explained. Note They are pritty week. Even the posi ones.

I had a 8.8 in mine but was a 327 gears. The 2.3 turbo didn't like it. I don't know if it was the gears or weight. Anyway I guess it wasn't much when I got it. Because it had lot of play in pinion. Swapped in the 345 turbocoupe and like it lot better. Maurice
Edit Tom Renzo something to look at. A cutdown 86 turbocupe 7.5 to fit a MGB.

it wouldn't be unheard of to get a trac loc added on when ordering, they give a list of dealer add ons like air conditioning and power windows, so i can see trac loc being an option. my 85 turbocoupe had a 7.5 trac loc with 3.55. my 90 2.3 had a open diff with 3.73's.

The turbo likes a first gear ratio at somewhere in the 14.5-14.00 to one . Heavy car low torque till the turbo spools up.That 7.5 in your MG is the ticket all right. LIGHT AND WILL HOLD UP NICELY. Thats awsum DUDE. And with the light weight of the combo ACES it will hold up just fine . NO WORRIES. Good choice brother GOOD CHOICE PERFECT.

TALK ABOUT A TIGHT squeeze.
THE AUTO IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO WITH THAT SORT OF SETUP. Clean and no linkkage worries to spead of. The auto will be much easier on the drivetrain. Smart moove on deciding on an auto.
