Default 1986 Mustang SVO Headlights-Are they different than 1984-1985?

I was reading a Wiki article about the SVO Mustang. I read in the article that the original design for the SVO headlights had to be scrapped until 1986. They couldn't put the lights on 84-86 because they were against some requirements by law.

My question is did they end up putting the headlights on the 86 when they were allowed to? I tried to find out searching online and couldn't find anything.

Heres the Wiki post I read.

Technically the car is a four eyed fox but everything about it is completly special to it. It does not share the lights of the aeronose it is however the reason they ended up that way or atleast one reason why they went aero. The lights I think they are talking about were the Aero composites that 87-93 have. I don't understand what regulations were in effect cause alot of 80's cars had composites. I would like to know about this regulation too. If I don't forget I may ask over on FEP. Basically they were supossed to have 87-93 lights but couldn't.

84 and early 85 had rectangular sealed beam headlights. Same as an Aerostar van and some others.

For the late 85 (some call it 85.5) and 886 the headlights went to an Aero-style that are not shared by any other car, much less any other Mustang.

I have read more posts that I could ever count over on SVOCA and FEP and I have never heard of any law that kept them from coming out with these headlights from the start of the 84 MY.

Wikipedia is schetchy at best with a lot of their information on things, so take that for what it is worth.

Any historical recount of SVO production I've ever read said the deal with the headlights said that they couldn't get the finished composite headlight done in a timely manner (engineering, vendor issues, etc). They didn't show up until part way through the '85 model year.

You should read up on the seat fiasco too

?? Never heard of this. I do know there are differences in the stitching. Other than that I don't know of any type of "fiasco".

Long story short, it was an "engineering vs. accounting" type of thing. Rather than get it wrong, I'll have to dig up the book and read it again.
