hahaha man if you wanna race my 88 turbo coupe it works for me. Hell I'd run you for pinks but idk what I'd do with that slow a** cobra. Theirs plenty of replacements for displacement! 2.3s are kick a**

Default I like my 2.3

It isnt the fastest car all around, but I really enjoy my little 4 banger. If driven well, in my opinion, it can have some nice pickup. I surprise these guys driving rice burners when I go in town and they act like fools. 4k on the rpm seems to be the point it really " likes " to shift so far. I have a 4 speed manual transmission and dont think I would like a 5 speed now. The 4 is just too much fun. So props on the 2.3 and once I get mah stuff done to it I will be a much peppier little pony.

I just got a '91 2.3L Mustang LX convertible and I love it. It only has 90K miles on it and it runs great. The only problem it has is a little radiator leak, but I'm getting that taken care of in a couple days.

Does anyone have any advice on what to do to make it faster? My friend is probably going to help me build and put on an intake on it, but that won't do a whole lot.

Thanks!

Yeah, I'm not too sure what went on with your 2.3, bro. My stang has ran strong ever since I've bought it. I've had a minor oil leak problem, too. But that was it. And as far as horsepower goes, I havent had too much of a problem with that, either. Sure, my acceleration isnt the greatest, but its pretty damn fast for a 2.3na AUTOMATIC trans. I've showed more than a few of those silly wind up imports whats up. And the only mods I've done has been a K&N air filter (not cone, just filter in box replacement. getting cone setup 2morrow, though) and I took off that damn air silencer. I was kinda amazed that people have had so many horsepower problems.

Default 2.3L's don't suck

I have a 79 Mustang 2.3Liter Turbo. It has a 4 spd man. I replaced the turbo with a turbonetics turbo and the engine block is still stock. It puts out about 350hp and 10lbs of boost. The 2.3Liter engine were every well built ones. Although I still would prefer a 302 V8 instead. Anyways the 4-bangers aren't all that bad.

DON'T put a stock turbo on a stock N/A block... unless you plan on using 2 pounds of boost and cranking back the timing...those engines cant handle boost, look for a wrecked svo,t-bird t-bo coupe, cougar xr7 turbo, or XR4Ti merkur and snag the whole block to ecm, you'll need the wiring, barrometric pressure sensor, vane air meter, and a larger fuel pump you'll 14.sec at the track all day!!

why can't you put a turbo on a stock 2.3 n/a? add #35 injectors, computer and VAM. Good to go for a little while

The sad thing is, with 15 PSI, straight back exhaust, and a bobs log, it still feels slow...

Maybe 20PSI, new computer, new 3" VAM, and some porting will make it faster

My 2 2.3L engines have been great for me. The Capri has 218,000 miles on it. Only things I did to it were regasketed it and gave it a valve job. The Mustang has 80K miles and only needed a headgasket. The gasket failed at the oil pressure passage at the rear of the engine so it wasn't that catastrophic. While the head was off, I gave that a valve job as well. Both cars (the Capri is carbed, the Mustang is EFI) run very well. I am pleased with the power and fuel economy of both cars. I know many people that have run their little 2.3L's a loooooong time.
