if you want drive faster and have bunch of $$ to change 2.3 to a 1000 hp turbo, for sure it can out run stock 5.o or mod 5.0. believe me i have seen and heard about it.
that what i have project working on my mustang to 500 hp turbo, but doing little at a time right now.
well boys ill tell ya thsi i been drivin my 86 svo for a few weeks.....and damn this car is fun as hell
funnest thing ive ever drove hehe course i am pushin 23 psi of boost =) but i dno both motors are good and its just what the person is looking for when they want a car you want sumthin everother mustang out there has or do you want sumthin different??? like my car its ugly (you gotta admit the svo's arent the prettyest cars) and im far from a 4cyl guy but damn its so different i just had to have it and i garentee you ill still be havin fun in it in 5 years.....

Exactly!! When I first got mine ('91 2.3 hatch) I was contemplating a big block transplant. My car buddies talked me out of that and steered me towards a big inch Windsor. I found a couple of Mustang sites and stumbled across a bunch of the 2.3 turbo guys and got hooked. Suffice to say, the engine currently on the stand is an 88 Turbo Coupe motor. My car buddies think it's cool because its different and not another 5.0
I'll put it this way, I've been scrounging up the parts to put a V8 into my Mustang II since I bought it... but the 2.3s that have been in it have been so reliable, fun, and easy to get the parts for that I doubt I'll ever "get around to it." lol

for dependability the 5.0 is better as for speed its up to you how much money you want to put in it 2.3 or 5.0 i think its cheper and easyer to make a 5.0 fast but with some money im sure you can make a 2.3 take out a porsche

the 2.3 main caps and oil pump/system is larger and better than the 5.0,,,i havn't seen a 5.0 make it to 400,000 miles ,sorry you have it all wrong,
Yeah, and how many heavily modded 400hp 2.3s have you seen split the block in half? Okay now with the same hand (because there's plenty of room) count how many FACTORY 302 blocks have split right down the middle after making approx 400hp??
There's more splits in the V8 camp than a cheerleading competition.
ive had 2 50s and this is my first 23t and i would have to say that the 2.3 is a much better motor than the 5.0 simply b/c of the heck i went through with my 5.0s every time i turned around it was somethin with the motor

maybe but heres the down fall i dont think i have ever seen a 2.3 with 400hp and it would cost like 10000 for twin turbo and nos to get 400hp but what ever its mustangs its all fun i like v8 yous like 2.3

It only takes 1 turbo, and for 10 grand, you could hook up all your buddies with the same setup and still have money left over for beer and strippers.
i agree with chandler on this ive got less than 500 in mine right now and i make over 250 at the rear tires. and $250 of that was in the purchase of the donor car

I've got 225hp with my merk, and all junk yard parts!! the biggest gain, is with the pc, and boost ofcourse. mine ran fine untill I turned the boost up to say 30 plus psi!!! then a little smoke appeared... but the but dinno' said close to 400hp when I hit the gas!!! it had the pull of my ol' big block pontiac motor!!
the pe pcu is the one to use for big power if you want it, but the la3 allows you to run lower octane gas, unlike the pe which is high test only!!
hey pepe..... where's westminister??? I might call you when I do my change over!!! if it's cool!!!!
paint first, rims and tires, then it'll be a toss up!!!
