Carbureted: 79-80 Mustangs, mainly Pace Cars and Cobras (hard to find, unreliable)
EFI: 1984-86 Mustang SVO, mid-80s Merkur XR4Ti, 84-88 Thunderbird Turbocoupes and SOME mid-80s Mercury Cougars, 1983 Mustang TurboGT (least desirable of the EFI 2.3Ts)
The BEST option for the 2.3 T is to find an 87-88 T-bird turbocoupe with a five-speed, pull the engine,
tranny, wiring harness, computer, rear end (disc brakes 8.8, much better than the drum brake 7.5 your car has from the factory, and it bolts in) and the front brakes and proportioning valve from the T-bird if you don't want to have to buy an aftermarket proportioning valve to adjust your brakes with the T-bird discs out back.
That'd give you a 215hp 2.3Turbo Mustang, with four-wheel disc brakes, and a rear end that will last you a lifetime (even an 88hp stock 2.3 can roast a 7.5 diff, I know, I did it!)
