Post the link to the car. The 2.3 is lower usually by considerable amount but good condition can change that. Also warning watch the 5.0 cars. If wanting original might want to research the title and vin. Lot of them are 2.3 converted. Maurice

Five dollars.

Stay far, far away from the A4LD automatic trans. I went through 5 in 2 years. One of them literally set on fire. Another looked like a grenade went off inside--pulled the case open and bits of metal just came falling out. 5spd or bust. Unless you feel like a T5 swap, in which case do a turbo swap while you're at it, and have a beast of a car that you'll absolutely love to drive every day.

I paid $1000 for my first, '93 LX 2.3 Auto bone stock with 94k miles. Body was perfect, interior wasn't bad either. No issues. My dad still thinks I overpaid for that one. Mine was a hatch though. For a clean rust free notch, maybe a little more. Would still very highly recommend turbo/T5 swap. You'll hate driving it if you don't.

93 ford mustang

I feel like the asking price is a bit high for the 4 cyl as ive seen plenty of v8's in that range as well.

Definitely way too high. TX car is a plus, shouldn't have rust. Notches tend to be worth more. But I wouldn't pay that much for a 5.0 either. I wouldn't pay that much if it was already 2.3T/T5/8.8 swapped. Nice little crunch in the front bumper too (not that mine hasn't seen much worse in its day). Maybe its just me, but I'd almost feel bad asking $2k for it were it me selling it. Hell, I paid $1000 for a clean TX '86 SVO and all it needed was a head. (I also stole that car at that price, but you get the point)

Now, a great car you could also get for a daily would be a thunderbird Turbocoupe. Reports of 28mpg+ are common, and they're quick cars for what they are. Poke around a little more and you can find a MUCH better deal. Just checked my CL and there are several sub-$2000 2.3s mustangs here. What's your reasoning behind looking at THAT car? You partial to the notch mustang or what?

yeah im partial to the fox notch, ive always wanted a fox. ive thought about those turbo coupes as well. i believe they used the same engine as the SVO correct? i was thinking 2k would be an ok price for it but thats less than 50% asking so im not sure if ill even bother with it.

More than double of what I would pay. I have seen some clean notch 4 bangers go for $1750 and $2100 down here.

No pics of the interior either huh.

For the most part, yes, same thing. I have one in my '90.

Fox hatches are usually cheaper. IMO they look better too. All the notch guys seem to whine about weight, but it seems to me that the extra weight is over the rear wheels in the back, and these cars are too nose heavy as it is. Sometimes it's not so much the weight as the weight distribution. Ford SVO/SVT guys seem to agree, SVO and Cobra were both hatches.

The a4ld is weak. If treat is easy it is ok but who does that. Me I got luck I found the parts and installed a c-4. Info on that swap here. I added my experience to it. TurboFord.org Forums: the C-4 info thread
Gas will suffer some since no 4th gear or lockup.
Most swap to a t-5. I would have does this but wife drives the car. And she refused to learn stick.
Now on the a4ld from what I read can be made strong. First is a better oil cooler. Second is from this site.
Project Frankentranny "AKA" A4LD / 4R55E / 5R55E Hybrid Project - A MUST READ! - Ford Explorer and Ranger Forums "Serious Explorations"®
If considering this will need this.
http--www.therangerstation.com-tech_library-pdf_documents-A4LD_manual.pdf
There is a 2.3 to 5.0 adapter. But have the 5.0 automatic take alot of power and not great behind a 2.3
Hope all that helps. Maurice

That seems a little steep to me. When my wife was my fiancée back in 1998 we bought her 92 LX hatch for $3000. The car was obviously only 6 years old then. I cant see paying more than that for a 21 year old car that was the low budget non-performance variant when new. Since it is so clean and the miles are good I could see $1500, may be even $2k if I had a weak moment.

I built one of those Exploder transmissions. Sheared off the 3 gear aluminum planetaries less than 200 miles after build and installation, got the 6 gear steels, all that jazz. Biggest external cooler I could get my hands on. And that was just to hold up to my very mild N/A build in a daily driver. You shouldn't have to beef up a trans like that at such low power just to get around IMO. Still have that thing sitting in my storage unit.

Automatic 4spd Light Duty. They aren't kidding about that last part. Thus why in the Turbocoupes, the T5 version was rated at 190hp and the A4LD version only to 150hp. It's literally that bad.

Five dollhairs is about all it'd be worth to me. Slow as all hell, trans is junk, etc. I don't want that headache again. Turbo with a stick is 1000x more fun to drive.

Even up here in the rust belt that is high. Foxes are popular in the GTA and if the underside of that car is as clean as the top, you'd get $2500-3000 for it here. I paid $600 for a half rotted notch with no drivetrain, only benefit was new tires and it was a factory 5.0. Fox values have stabilized as of late, atleast here they have. I'm not suggesting they will become collectible, but I don't see them dropping much lower in value.
