Question 93 Conv. Radiator Support Removal

New owner here. Bought this car for my son to teach him a thing or two. Well, the car needs a radiator support frame. Its the only damage that needs to be addressed. Never had to remove one. My question is; Do I need to unbolt or remove spot welds? I just started removing parts and cant tell on my own how to do it and also do not have the new support in my possession. What am I looking forward to? Thanks!

Cool

The radiator support is an intregral part of the front uni-body structure. The old support needs to be cut off and the new one welded in. However, it's very important that everything aligns properly. All your front sheetmetal alignment depends on it! IMHO the best/cheapest course of action would be to strip all the front sheetmetal, radiator, accessories, etc, bring the car to a reputable body shop and let them do the install. It'll save you countless headaches later! Here's a pic with frontend stripped.

Thanks for your input! I am being told the same from other sources. I had a body shop at one point in my life, but that was 20 years ago and I did not do frame work. I'll leave the unibody to the youth of the business. I think I'll let them put the new oilpan in also. I am too old to be on my back anymore. Thanks! Glad I became a member...
