I was in beaufort sc one winter. 1977/78 I believe. there was just enough snow to cover the ground. people were crashing into each other and everything thing in town closed down..except the bars...which is where I was.

oh and as for driving a mustang in the winter..make sure you put on snow tires and not as wide as your summer tires. a little weight in the trunk helps too.

It's not smart to fool with mother nature. I show her the same respect I do my car and we get along just fine. Been doing this for a whole lotta years and it's a good arrangement. Others I come across haven't shared my phylosophy. A lot of folks (not just one ones) are trying to defy the laws physics by coming towards me around icy corners (on the wrong side), tailgating etc on the icy streets around here. To-date, those same people have paid for my two new (Ford original) fenders,full paint job (three times), two new bumpers, a new door and two new headlights and tail lights
If this keeps on, I'll be the only guy in Ontario driving a totally brand new 2000 Stang...LMAO. I just love winter drivers
I got caught one time in the snow with my 225 R16 50 summer performance tires. I was sliding all over the place; I think it was luck I made it home.
When I put on the snow tires--195 R15 60--it's another story. As long as there is some weight in the back (i.e. at least a half tank of gas and/or sand bags) the car is great.

I had a '95 v6 stang with falken z rated 17" 235 perfomance tires. NOT SNOW PERFORMANCE! I got stuck after church on a slight hill in the parking lot. Bst Part is a 80+ year old member pushed me up the hill while I drove! That's something I won't forget. My daily driver(at least untill I get my stang finished) is a front wheel drive 93 celica. Even with the fairly bald performance tires it does 20 time better in the snow.
I am not saying FWD imports are my thing. 27+mpg and a little spunk isn't bad though.

I donno what yall are doin wrong, My lil 4 banger spun its wheel alll the way up a mountain, when there were 1-3 inches of snow on the roads. No not lil sissy mtn either. If u pay attention u can feel the car start to slide, listen to the engine and soon a it goes up, clutch or get offf the gas-change the gears, etc.. I love driving my baby in bad weather, Id rather drive it than any 4x4. Hell i've taken her onto an iced road and come out alright.
All i got are factory 195/75 R15 with rly low tread...
maybe im just the shiznit at driving

I'll tell you how I'M gonna handle it.
I'm gonna pull the battery out of it, and swap it into my 5" lifted on 33's Jeep Cherokee, and dirve it like I stole it, till it thaws, and call it a day.
That Jeep is why I bought the slopony, for the MPG.
Jeep=8mpg
Pony=30mpg

The sad thing is, with 15 PSI, straight back exhaust, and a bobs log, it still feels slow...
Maybe 20PSI, new computer, new 3" VAM, and some porting will make it faster
Dont put salt in the back of your mustang, isnt that what we try to avoid in winter, the salt, so why would you want to put it in your trunk. Cinderblocks and sand are better, but still not the best, when they contain any minerals, hte vapors from it will eat away the metal. If you can find some heavy wood, or a steel toolbox or something, put that in there, but not salt for sure.

it's still the same here!!!! though I'm not in beaufort, only 100 miles away....
well when my car was a 200 IL6 i drove once in the snow to get some christmas presents and i did a few 360's on the way to wal*mart luckly there was no car on the other side of the road i was spinning around it actually slip onto the sidewalk and i was driving fine half on the road half on the sidewalk till i decided to bring th car back down and it starting spinning be out of control i pumped the gas instead of brakes out of shock and it didnt help allthough i was frightened an stood outside my car a guy in an f150 stopped and asked me if my car was ok, then he told me someones hubcap was in the middle of the road..haah
it feels like a 5.0 in the snow....i bought my 4 cyl when it snowed and was tricked into the power it didnt have....it handled considerably well...when the snow melted i found out my car was slower than piss
