Never heard of it being done, but I am sure its do-able. Though I dont suggest you use dye on leather seats, carpeting or actual vinyl because I have heard from a lot of people that it fades quickly, and it doesnt stick to carpet well at all.

I am going to use Vinyl Dye to re-paint all of the plastic and vinyl dash and everything, other than that I am having my seats refurbished, a new carpet and headliner put in and I am using left-over carpeting to do the carpet on my door panels.

But it is do-able, as far as I know... but your going to need Armor-All Protectant to, if you want it to shine and sand-paper to sand out disformaties in the plastic before you re-paint it (so it looks new). I will get you a picture of some of the plastic on my car to show you what I mean.. there are cuts and scratchs on some of it.

Also if theres any broken plastic or cracked plastic in the car you'll have to get cement glue and put it back in place and use the cement glue on the back side of the panels in order to fix that; before painting.

Well actually what I was going to was paint the the actual plastic...black...but the seats and carpet and headliner would remain scarlet red...I'm going for a look of red and black. I'm kind of skeptical though I don't want it to look horrible...I have mixed feelings about it haha. thanks though

Go to 79-04 INTERIOR PAINT, MUSTANG ALL they have the paint and primer for plastic and vinyl.

One of the magizines I have did a brief article on using it on their dash, console, and other interior parts. can't remember if it was MM and Fast Fords or 5.0 Mustang and super fords. thry their web sites they may be on there.

I Plan on doing it myself, just be sure to prep the surface first. Scrub it. That gets the oils and any other armorall etc. off so the paint/dye will stick well.

Good luck. HEY if you could take some before and after pics and post them that would be awe some!

My interior used to be ugly red, with plaid seats. I used two kinds of interior paints, one was the duplicolor vinyl interior paint sold at walmart, and one was called SEM or something like that, its quite a bit more pricy, but its worth EVERY penny, the duplicolor stuff tends to wear off. Clean all your parts with soap and water, then use a product by duplicolor called adhesion promoter, with the duplicolor paint, do not use it with the SEM paint, it caused me some issues that had to be addressed.

The carpet was new, and the seats were recovered by a interior shop, everything else was just painted and screwed back in.

Or you can get fox body interior parts from 50resto.com, they sell a lot of restoration parts for the foxes.

Have fun, i hope you liked my interor.

I saw the same article Halfpack saw. It turned out great. I used this Krylon paint called "Fusion" on mine. It's made especially for plastics so you don't have to primer. I tried normal paint first but I was getting alot of runs. The fusion worked awsome. They sell it at Wal-Mart.
