Default Pics of strut tower brace macked up/clearance issues

I just got my MAC strut tower brace today. So I mocked it up to see what I'd be dealing with as far as clearance. Well I will probably have to find a valve cover that has a different location for the oil cap. I bid and lost on a nice one on ebay that was mentioned here the other day. If anybody knows where I could find one let me know.

As you can see there may be an eighth inch clearance. Also you can see I've got a long ways to go on the stang. HAHA

You have to remember that the brace wasmade for a V8...and boy does that suck for your application.

I just want to caution you that if you can't find the valve cover you are looking for, heating and bending the brace will cause it to loose some ofits effectiveness.

Nice project though... just keep at her.

Cool

Hey thanks guys for your support. It's nice to get some encouragment from fellow stang lovers.

I knew that I would probably have some clearance issues, but older 2.3's came with the filler cap in a different spot. I could always change it's location if I had too. I have just never seen anybody on this forum talk about this so I figured I'd spread the word.

By the way my engine set up will be this(a little different I admit, but that's why it's fun):
oval air cleaner,
390 cfm holley 4v carb,
offenhauser 4 barrel dual plane intake,
self ported head,
forget pistons,
50-75hp wet shot N2O,
racer walsh #2 flat tappet cam(unless i find a different one),
Racer walsh long tube header,
2.25" single exhaust,
flo pro twister muffler,
also msd stuff in photos above.

deleted AC
Manual steering

Wonder what the power will be?

With the wet shot, probably around 180 peak hp, which is about the same as a high mileage bone stock 2.3l turbo motor! I gotta say, you've got some nice parts and are actually working on the car (which seems to be a minority on this board). BUT, you've got the 'Stang torn down, now would be an optimum time to go turbo!

The money you're gonna spend on that list of parts will get you either a good running 2.3T or good donor car. You'd be far better off putting that money towards a turbo motor and a couple of upgrades. You could easily attain 250 hp and more! Just my $.02.

A turbo would be a good choice I admit. I just want to do somthing simple and totaly different. It's hard to explain. I do enjoy your turbo cars and watch what they can do. More power to you (and to your mustangs).

Anyhow, I'll probably end up swaping in a carbed v8 some day. Probably in 5 or so years. We'll see.
