Default What do you think of my paint idea?

I was originaly going to do a standard single stage spray myself. But I would need a bigger, better compressor. It's a decent chunk of money too. would be worth it if I got it right, but I decided to try something different. I may go with thst Rustoleum roller paint job. I already tried it with a bad fender I have. I didn't prep it like I would the final paint job and the garage was dusty. I could see tons of dust and junk falling onto the paint because it was dirty in there and the paint takes so long to dry.

I may try that, but my latest idea is to spray it with flat black. I can't find any matte black. I tryed that with my cheap $50 gun and small compressor. It dries much faster than the gloss but slowly enough that I can let the compressor catch up. I don't believe I can sand or do anything with the final coat though. Also, will it mark up where you touch it? I couldn't wax it either.

Maybe I should just clean the garage realy well and prep the car and try the roller first and see how that goes. If it doesn't work well then sand and try the flat black.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? Do you think flat black would look good?

I tried $50 paint job on my car. Here is a link to my cardomain that shows how I did it. It would have turned out nice if I took my time and didn't get PO'ed at myself.

if you use space heaters it might dry faster Buy a Gazebo and build it in the garage and then use space heaters(element kind) not kerosene.

Don't use space heaters, it makes the paint dry faster in some areas. The whole garage has to be the same temp or the paint wont look right

Temperature and humidity have more to do with drying times than anything. Paint when its above 70 degrees and low humidity. Space heaters only if temp is below recommended temp on side of paint can. Do not force dry paint! Thinner paint dries faster but runs easier. Wet floor down to help control dust. Use good ventilation!!!!!!!!!! Good old fashioned laquer dries fast and is easy to sand and buff.

spray on dude!

Default Try This.

If I were you I'd try the new Paintshop line from rust-o-lium. It's a lacquer type of paint and is much easier to paint with. You could spray it on or roller it on. Either way it looks good.

For anyone worried about the temp outside, I painted my car in winter with -50*C outside and -6*C inside
