Spec's
1987 Merkur XR4TI engine
150000 km's (90000 miles)
ran great before removed about a month ago
has a little shaft play in the turbo
cracking vaccum lines
Overall in good shape for only $400 it also came with a T-9 trans (will swap to a T-5 when the swap is done this fall)
Going to get the computer and VAM on thursday (he forgot them)
I'm so happy

The sad thing is, with 15 PSI, straight back exhaust, and a bobs log, it still feels slow...
Maybe 20PSI, new computer, new 3" VAM, and some porting will make it faster
I stripped a bolt on the exhaust manifold so I went and got a set of stripped bolt extraction sockets (don't know the actual name) and a boost gauge so I don't blow it up the first time it starts.
Oh, and I also got a top end gasket set for $30 so I sent $90 today. Soon I'll have the E3 off and ready to weld

I got the stripped bolt out (damn 12 pt sockets) and I got to return the easy out socket set (didn't even use, to big)
I plan on having everything off tomorrow (except the head) and clean it, then paint it. then on thursday I'll put the new gaskets in and run it as it is (for now) then rebuild it, because I don't have a ton of cash right now.
Anyways I'll post some pictures tomorrow of progress (also going to get the VAM and computer on thursday)

Took the engine apart to the point where I'll start painting and adding parts. Soon the transmission will be polished just for the hell of it and start putting it together and I'm still trying to find a welder that wont want an arm and leg for a 2" weld

This is as far as the engine is now, just have to remove the turbo from the manifold, drill holes at the end of the crack and cut a V grove in it, get it welded put it on and its ready for the swap
I got my boost gauge installed and made a custom mount for it so its hard to see during the day and night to others, but easy to see for me. I'll take a picture of it tomorrow because I finished it at 12am the other day and I was busy with family all day today.
I also found out all the rest of the parts should be here next week. (VAM, VAM connector, Computer, E6 (thanks hyperse7en))
I'm grabbing a T-5 ASAP and also when my dad gets time to drive me into the city (he's the only one that will let me get parts lol)
Wish me luck still. Go for my drivers test next month on the 14th
