Cool What's Gas mileage like with 2.3L?

I have not got my stang lx inspected yet, still little things here and there to fix yet, so I don't know what the gas mileage is like on it because of not being able to drive it. So what do you guys get with your completely stock 2.3L 4 banger? Mine is stock from bumper to bumper and has an auto tranny and wondered what the mpg was like on these ponies?

The sad thing is, with 15 PSI, straight back exhaust, and a bobs log, it still feels slow...

Maybe 20PSI, new computer, new 3" VAM, and some porting will make it faster

Well I ahad an 89 lx hatch with 5spd. and around 185,000 miles on it about 5 years ago. the exhaust was pretty much toast . It was a tired engine I averaged maybe between 22-23 mpg.

I have a '93 LX 2.3L 5-speed with like 65,000 miles, and it gets about 27 mpg.. I had an '89 2.3 Automatic, and with the power it lacks, and u gotta stand on the throttle to get it going, I would say 20-23...

When I got the 89 i was thinkin man this is some crappy accelaration, then I got my 93 with the 5-speed and I wondered why I ever got an auto. 05Musclestang, if I was u, I would find an old 5-speed fox body in the junkyard and the pedal assembly with a clutch, and get a 5-speed tranny and put in it, bcuz u wont find much power with the automatics...

I got a 91 lx hatchback auto with 145,000 miles on it and before i did anything to it i did my own test and filled the tank(15.5 gallon) as much as it could take and reset the trip miles tech and ran it to below the E and and it got 288 miles to the tank after the tune up and oil change i did it again and got 305 miles to the tank! So its pretty amazing on gas!!!

The 89 has about 15 - 20 less horse do to the changes made in 91. New ignition 8 plugs and mass air.

If I had the money like a lot of other people, I would put in a new tranny, but plans for this car and my pockets for it are to just have my own stang to ride around in and not worry as much for it if something happens to it because it was hit before I bought it. Wanted to buy the car by myself, for myself, and have something to work on, because there's not much to do to my '05 working wise because she's my real baby and staying stock for a long time yet and having another stang means I keep the miles on the '05 down, get good gas mileage, and still have a stang to drive. The most I'm going to do to this car is maybe new paint, wheels, and interior because I know here in 2-3 years I'll be selling it for I know atleast 3-4 times what I payed for it after I cleaned it up a good bit, and then I'll have my second dream pony, a '67 or '68 stang, that car I will turn into a beast because I got a neighbor holding a 302 with 450 hp N/A for me and I'll definitly have fun with that car tuning er up. Thanks for the input though my fellow stanger.
