So im considering a nice mother nature move, what do you guys think of the E85 fuel, or even E100?

You should NOT run it unless your car was built to run it!
It takes a lot of special parts that are most economically installed when the car is built at the factory. Things like special fuel pumps, stainless steel fuel lines, a special computer controlled valve that decides what and how much E85 is in the tank.
Go Green some other way.

personally i do not like E85. It burns a heck of a lot faster than gasoline and it costs just a little bit less. In the long run you end up spending more $$$. Personally, stick to 87 octane gasoline.
Yeah not the smartest thing to do. It may be cheaper (depending on where you live) but not the right move. All fuel has some ethanol in it. They put a little more in during the winter months. But yeah it will dry up all of the gaskets in the fuel system and will damage your injectors.
I was thinking of doing a conversion on my 2.3 and decided against it due to the cost and plus the complete redo of the entire fuel system.
But if you want to run E85 buy something that is designed to run on it.
Just my take on the situation.
Mike.
I'm in the process of setting up my old Chevrolet for it, but I'm lucky there... the parts aren't too expensive... just an arm, leg, and the promise of my firstborn...
Seriously though, it's not cheap, in most vehicles you've either got to change the gas tank or get it lined, change out all of your fuel lines, change out your carburetor or injectors, it's a lot of work... only reason I'm doing it to the old Chevy is the engine I'm building for it is going to have a lot more compression than the stocker, and being able to run E85 will let me be more agressive with tuning because it has more octane than gasoline (excluding aviation and racing blends).

Already have, ordered most of the parts already, braided stainless lines rated for alcohol, a Holley 4-bbl set up for alcohol, fuel cell for alcohol... lol
I'm aiming for about 550-600hp out of the 400 after it's (re)built, just gotta hope that old 400/2bolt block will hold up to it!

Well in Tucson E85 is hard to come by. I've seen it at two gas stations. One had it a 3.15 a gallon. Other wasn't advertsing the price. Plus there is a refinery that makes about 100 miles away.
I know the costs, i've looked into a lot of them. i am just waiting for it to come into my area. I really would want e100, but thats impossible.
with e85 theres more power, less emmissions. i support alternative fuels, local industries, etc.
but its not in my area anyway...
