I just bought a 1984 mustang mini stock. it has a 2.3L engine with a 4 speed transmission. i was wondering what transmission that is. i know its not a t5. because a t5 is only in 5 speeds. i need to know to find a rebuild kit, or buy a new one.

That's the Ford SROD 4 speed... single rail overdrive.

u go by how many spline on the input shaft.i think if its got 21 or close to it. thats what they call the hummer -german made if its 10 spline its american or srod whatever u want to call it . i know i hade a 86 with the hummer it locked up in 4th i replaced it with the older am. style seemed much stronger to me ..
