Default 1992 Mustang 2.3L gas saving tips? Not HP but more Gas Economy

Hey Mustang Gods, I'm looking to get more gas saving tips for my 2.3L

(Not HP but more Gas Economy)

What can I do to my 2.3L engine to get better miles per gallon?

Any and all tips will help, the little green machine has 121K and in need of a pretty good tune up, a lady owned it and did not take great care of it.

The valve cover are leaking which I will fix too, I'm not afraid to spend a little money on this gas saver, nice little car.

Since I already own a 1990 Stang with a 347 Stroker supercharger monster.

Looking to save a little gas on this little green machine. Please assist. Thanks in advance to all mustang gods out there.

Long live FORD....

First things first, get it tuned up, use quality parts, since it's a distributorless ignition car, platinum plugs are pretty much a given, use Motorcraft, NGK, or Champion, but Autolite or Bosch will work in a pinch. K&N filter, make sure your throttlebody and IAC are clean, less restrictive exhaust, use windows down in town and A/C on the highway, no jackrabbit starts.... same as any other car.

I disagree. In all of the dual plug motors I've had, I've found that plain ol' copper plugs work best. NGK V-power TR5's being my favorite to date.

I've tried all of the major brand platinum plugs looking for the magic everyone else sees. The only magic I saw was money disappear from my wallet. I never saw improved fuel economy or better performance.

Use a heavy duty fuel system and injector cleaner every oil change. Also, the oxygen sensor loses its sensitivity with time, causing a rich mixture without activating the check engine light, With 121k on an old car that has not been maintained you could consider a new O2 sensor. The obvious - filters, wiring harness, plugs etc. The car is low on torque so there is no point in jammimg the gas pedal to the floor; drive easily and keep your speed at 60 mph on the highway. I get 29+ mpg on the highway in my '91 2.3L.

Proper size tires with plenty of air will help to get more MPG, as well as making sure that you don't load everything that you own into the trunk. The more weight you carry around, the more gas it takes to get it moving.
