Question Tranny Swaps for 1993 Mustang LX, Cost for a 5 speed?

it's Automatic, I want Manual. How much would it cost to throw a 5 spd in there.
just a general price range please.....

Also, my speedometer maximum speed is 85 mph, if i got a cluster with a 140 mph speedometer, what kind of re-adjustments would i have to do to make it read accurate... or would it do it on it's own..

Sorry if i seem like a n00b. i don't really know anything about mustangs, i used to be a 240sx guy...

I've seen 5 spd swaps done for as little as a $150.00 bucks, and I've seen posts from guys who had to have everything as new as possible and spent upwards of $800.00.

STINGER PERFORMANCE PARTS - 2.3 Turbo Performance Parts for Mustang SVO, Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, Merkur XR4Ti, Pinto, Ranger, and Sand Rails

Look through the tech articles there and you'll see what you're up against to do the 5spd swap.

Just swap the speedo out. To answer your question, It'll do it on it's own.

Default Manual Conversion

TRANSMISSION KITS ARE AVAILABLE FROM SUMMIT. TOP DOLLAR TRANY AND DUAL CLITCH WILL COST YA ABOT $2500.00 FOR THE KIT. I DONT KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE BUT A LOT OF TRANNY SHOPS WILL DO THE CONVERSION FOR YOU FOR ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT. SOME MUSTANG SPECAILTY SHOPS HERE IN NC WILL DO IT CHEAPER DEPENDING ON THE SHAPE OF YOUR AUOTMATIC, CAUSE THEY WILL WANT TO KEP IT. I HAVE AN AOD AUTO IN MY 93 WITH 350 ALM HEAD ENGINE IN FRONT OF IT. i HAD A FRIEND AT NATIONAL TRANSMISSIONS IN BOYTON BEACH FL. BULLIT PROFF IT FOR ME AOD WITH AODE OUTDRIVE SPLINE SHIFT KIT AND A 3 K STALL SPEED CONVERTER. STILL HAVE TO USE THE AUTO GEAR SELECTOR BUT IT FLY'S

Depends how much you pay for the tranny. I got a tc 5 speed from the junkyard 4 $400. That included the manual crossmember, driveshaft & shifter. Plus new parts. Im looking at about $500 in new parts. Plus i did do all the work myself. My realistic guess would be $700-$1500 total. Maybe less if you get lucky.

Totally correct. Here is something that i do on occasion. Look in the paper for a junker donor car and sometimes you can get one cheap. I paid 200 bucks a year ago for a wrecked 90 muatang that was totalled. Chandler is correct it depends on where you locate the parts and the cost of them. A donor car is always best because you have everything you need and also know where the parts go. Good luck and PEACE TOM

On the 140 mph speedometer. Just get a airbag one for a airbag car or a nonairbag one for a nonairbag one. One will not fit the other. As far as adjustments there is none. Just bolt in and done. All the adjustments is in the gear at the end of speedometer cable in transmission.
