TurboII has done it, it's actually one of the easier swaps you can do if you want a serious increase in power. The Merkur XR4Ti would make a really good donor vehicle for a 2.3 swap into a Mustang II because the fuel pump that mounts underbody is the one you'd want for the swap, and it used V-belts just like a Mustang II-era 2.3, so mixing and matching accessories to make things fit "just right" would be less of a challenge. You'd want to get the computer, harness, all sensors, the exhaust manifold, the fuel pump and lines from the pump forward, as well as the engine itself.
