Default HELP-from a automatic to a manual transmission?

i have a 2.3 89 LX which i recently bought with really low miles and i like it so far although its kind of slow and i was wondering if it was possible to change from auomatic to a manual 5-speed transmission and if it is what are the basics of doing so?

i suggest getting everything from another stang and do the swap, much easier and cheaper that way.....the 5 speed will be nice when you do the turbo setup...

I'm about to do the same thing to my turbo beast. Trust me, makes the car lots more lively

The sad thing is, with 15 PSI, straight back exhaust, and a bobs log, it still feels slow...

Maybe 20PSI, new computer, new 3" VAM, and some porting will make it faster

i did the 5 speed conversion on 2 stangs and the first thing to do is get to the wreckers and get the driveshaft, crossmember, pedals, cables, shifter and flywheel.buy the clutch and pilot bearing new. remove the steering wheel completely and maybe even the front seat (if you want...the more room the better) take all the bolts and brackets you can from the wreckers, some of them are longer on the crossmember. and i reccomend buying a ford racing(or equivilent) non adjusting clutch quadrant and firewall adjuster. it's way easier to put on with the pedal assembly out of the car, and it keeps the stock factory plastic adjuster from snaping on you.oh and you have to take you're cluster out cause from factory the fools put the speedo cable through the clutch cable hole. MAKE SURE you keep the speedo gear from the auto and swap it to the 5-speed,they put different gears in every kind of 2.3 or 5.0 aod and 5-speed so the one in you're aod is the one for that rear end,and there enterchangable between the 2 trans.
the hardest thing to do is replace the pedals. good luck and message me if you have any questions.
