Default 1993 Mustang 2.3 Beeping Sound

I own a 92-93 2.3LX the body is a 1992, engine is 1993. The problem is when I start it up and drive a series of beeps in 3's intervals is coming from under the dash (near glove box?) Low oil maybe??? The Haynes doesn't say any thing about a chime for Low Oil. Oh and its not the door or key reminder. the beep has a different tone. Thanks.

It's the airbag controller. There's either a problem in the airbag circuits or in the controller itself.

Could it be the crash sensors? I had minor front impact awhile back. Where is the controler located? Does that mean the bag won't deploy when its flashing, or that its going to blow in my face lol.

If there's a fault, the bag is disabled. The controller is a blue box back behind the radio and A/C controls.

As far as what the problem is, I couldn't even begin to tell you. There's a huge write up on airbag troubleshooting at veryuseful.com You need to know your junk about electrical troubleshooting though. It's very thorough and very tedious. What you'll most likely find in the end is a blown non-replaceable fuse inside the airbag module that's gone bad for one reason or another. The tests just verify the integrity of the rest of the system before you replace the controller. No sense in popping the new one right off the bat.

Hey thanks for the info. Its a problem with one of the crash sensors. I had a minor (no damage to my car, few scuffs) front end collision once and I think it shorted the module when the bag should have deployed. I will start to serivice the system and let you know how it goes....
