Default 1984 2.3 Mustang Dirt Track Racing Help Needed

Hello,
I have a 1984 2.3 Mustang stock engine and am running a Mini Stock division in dirt track racing.
This is my first experience with this type of car/engine, etc. I'm use to the standard 350 Chevy engine, etc.
Any helpful advice on routine maintenance of engine/transmission/rear gear, etc would be greatly appreciated. Any good manuals out there that would help me with the service/maintenance/overhaul of this type of application.

Thanks for your time and assistance.

I think you are in the right place but since we don’t have any reply’s I’m guessing not many here have much info on the 2.3 so I am going to move this to the 2.3 and SVO Mustang Tech forum, surly there you will get a few answers.

Good luck!

Change the oil, every 3 months (or 3000 miles) change the transmission fluid when it goes dark and burnt looking/smelling

not sure on the rest

The sad thing is, with 15 PSI, straight back exhaust, and a bobs log, it still feels slow...

Maybe 20PSI, new computer, new 3" VAM, and some porting will make it faster

If your just getting started in ford 4cyl circletrack racing the first thing I would do is buy Steve Smiths pony stock book. Also go to 4m.net there are guys there that have been building/racing the 2.3 for over 30 yrs. If you cant find what your looking for over there it's not available
