Default Running rough got codes

zI got a 94 escourt 1.9l. it has the same codes as are in the book for a 93 mustang so im hoping somone can help

zI have no power now and its even evident in the stupid things automatic having difficulty determining when to shift. my fuel consumption is now insane as well.

these are the two codes

179-Adaptive Fuel lean limit reached at part throttle, system rich

187-Injector Pulse-width lower than expected

now i can guess that its lean because there is really no power under load, but the whole system rich part has me confused.

also i dont understand why the injectors wouldn't be firing correctly.

please any help would be great

i just performed a cylinder head gasket replacement. but how would that cause the injectors to fire incorrectly?

Test your o2 sensor, re-check your wiring (if you think its right its going to be wrong)

Also, did you make sure to replace all you gaskets? a loose one could make the computer think your car has a bad sensor and go into limp home mode

Maybe 20PSI, new computer, new 3" VAM, and some porting will make it faster

Loose screw, causing the gasket to be loose and not seal completely (loose gasket)

No, that would only cause an oil... wait... the PCV system isn't sealed now, so it might be a cause to a tiny bit of it... not sure though, ask someone who works with that engine

your 179 means the system is showing RICH and the computer has LEANed it as much as possible.

what's your fuel pressure??

check for fuel in vacuum hose at Fuel Pressure Regulator.

187 Injector pulse width lower than expected or MAF higher than expected (running rich)

is there any air leaks between the MAF and the throttle body??

Hi,

Did you replace the injecter seals? If your car continuously runs rich, you will ruin your cat. If your computer is trying to lean out, it sounds like you may have a fuel leak, thus the injector seals leaking.

the injector seals would cause an air leak around the injectors leaning the mixture. it could be a leaking injector but we first do the above (post 11) checks.
