Alright after being picked on with my little 2.3L and then having my '05's 4.6 called junk because I won't race a few older turbo eclipses and a mid 70's monte carlo, and then having over 130K miles on my 2.3, it's time to step up some, so the 2.3L in the '90 has to go. There's a 450 hp NA carb'd 302 up the street with my name on it if I want it for $500. I have that and then the friend next door has a ford 9" rearend I want as well. Now here's my question for my fellow stangers. What all do I need to do this swap so I can get everything I need and then drop that carb'd 302 straight in and eat some rice friday and saturday nights. My car's a completly stock '90 stang lx 2.3L FI with an auto tranny (keeping that for now until something breaks in that then I'll get a new tranny) and that engine I want is a carb'd 302. Of course I'll need new motor mounts and springs upfront but what about a wiring harness and such? thanks very much in advance!

you need motor mounts, springs, ford duraspark 2 box, a holley blue pump regulator with bypass and a 86 carbed throttle cable. and a fan shroud and fan if the motor doesn't already have one, v8 headers and exhaust will help too. some people will say you need more, but me and my brother did this swap and this is all we bought. you could go more fancy with a 6 al box and all that like i did on mine, but the duraspark box did fine on my brothers, i'm just an over achiever lol

Thanks a bunch guys. Now I have a list of everything I need now to be sure I can do this swap. As for a tranny I'll look around for a cheaper one for now when I'm ready for the swap, and I know I can find a 8.8 rear around here too. Thanks a bunch guys.
