Post 2.3t rebuild and swap into a 1991 Mustang Coupe

I've got a 2.3 out of a 87 TC and I want to rebuild it and swap it into my 2.3 N/A Mustang. I'm looking for a good rebuild manual. In all the old posts I've read everyone says it's important to have a good manual but they never are specific. Are there any out there specifically for the 2.3?

I live in So Cal so I also need guidance in making this smog legal. Can I do a turned intake, header, upgraded turbo, etc. and still be legal?

And finally, I've got a 87 TC roller with a perfect body and an open 7.5 rear end that I'll will give away to the first person that comes to haul it away!

Kalifornia smog Nazis are most likely going to throw a fit over the 87 vintage motor in your '91 car. You probably won't find one who's head will keep from exploding long enough to even touch on the modifications. The most effective mod you can do at this point is register the car Nevada or New Jersey

Check with the local tuner crowd, but I think you're urinating in to a moving air mass.

I hate strong head winds!

You can get away with this stuff in Nevada? Don't you need a real local address for that? Hmmm...

I don't know for fact if Nevada is less fascist than California when it comes to automobiles.

It's a shame as green as they'd like to be that they can't see the forest for the trees. To me, if it passes the sniffer, has all of the current required devices (EGR, Cat, EVAP, etc.) then they shouldn't be concerned with the powertrain vintage. One would think they'd applaud the recycling effort Hell, most of the people who are in to this tune to make the cars more efficient than the factory did.

I feel for ya man. One suggestion before I hit the send button: Hit Turboford.net and ask the guys there. I think there's some left coast members there who may know the hard facts in this case.

Thanks B,

I've got a thread going on there too. Not much info yet, but I am finding some locals with turbo 2.3s, hopefully they can help.
