Default 4 piece versus 1 piece oil pan gasket

Is it possible to determine whether a 4 piece or 1 piece oil pan gasket is required by using the serial number. I supposedly have an 1989 LX, but after replacing the 1 piece gasket 4 times and still having major leaks, I'm not sure its really an 1989 engine.

THe one piece oil pan gasket from FelPRo is kickass. I always use them. I think you can get them at anywhere that stocks FelPro. ask for the rubber one piece gasket.

Make sure to use a little silicon before you put it on, helps with it sealing also

Maybe 20PSI, new computer, new 3" VAM, and some porting will make it faster

With the rubber gasket, i ran into problems with putting silicone on them. I'm not sure if we're thinking of the same gasket but mine had channels in it that seemed to create a suction effect, and the silicone filled up the gasket and hardened it, resulting in an oil leak. So i just went and got a new set and haven't had a problem yet
