Default 1993 Mustang 2.3L 4 out of 8 plugs aren't firing, is this bad?

Hey guys,
In my 93 2.3 LX I’ve discovered something interesting that could be a problem. The engine is inline and has 4 spark plugs on each side (8 all together). A few months back I replaced all the spark plugs. Few days ago the car was sputtering real badly (whole engine was shaking). It happened about 3 times that day but it hasn’t happen again yet. I figured the problem was probably spark plug related. While the car was running I pulled the spark plug wires out of the distributor one at a time and discovered 4 of the wires weren’t responsive (no spark jumping from them). The unresponsive wires/plugs were the 2 in the middle on the left (driver side) and the outer 2 on the right (passenger side). I don’t know if this is normal since it’s a 4 cylinder mustang or if this is a serious (or minor) problem. I pulled one of the unresponsive plugs out and it looked like at one point it was firing because the tip is white. I changed the distributor caps but that didn’t help.

Anyone knows what’s going on or have any ideas?

Thanks,
Harvey

(Sorry for posting in the 5.0 section, didn’t want someone who knows the problem not to see my post)
