Default 93 2.3L 4 out of 8 plugs aren't firing, is this bad?

Hey guys,
In my 93 2.3 LX I’ve discovered something interesting that could be a problem. The engine is inline and has 4 spark plugs on each side (8 all together). A few months back I replaced all the spark plugs. Few days ago the car was sputtering real badly (whole engine was shaking). It happened about 3 times that day but it hasn’t happen again yet. I figured the problem was probably spark plug related. While the car was running I pulled the spark plug wires out of the distributor one at a time and discovered 4 of the wires weren’t responsive (no spark jumping from them). The unresponsive wires/plugs were the 2 in the middle on the left (driver side) and the outer 2 on the right (passenger side). I don’t know if this is normal since it’s a 4 cylinder mustang or if this is a serious (or minor) problem. I pulled one of the unresponsive plugs out and it looked like at one point it was firing because the tip is white. I changed the distributor caps but that didn’t help.

Anyone knows what’s going on or have any ideas?

Thanks,
Harvey

yep, your right it is a coil pack. I couldn't get no info off those wires. Auto zone think it could be the ign system so I'm going to replace it on monday. Hopefully that will solve the problem. I'll let you know what happens Heavy Metal.

Thanks

theres a primary and secondary coil, the secondary coil and plugs are for emmisions mostly, but they end up giving the engine some more power, burning off all the fuel the engine is given. so if the secondary coil fails it will still run fine but it will throw a code( check engine)

That light has been on for years now! I'm pretty sure i've been running like this for a while now. I'll try to replace that coil.
Thanks a lot for the info
