Default Transmission problems

my tranny will not go backwards, it will go into reverse but won't let the car roll backwards, if i put it in nuetral it will roll forward, but wont roll backwards, it didnt start doing this till i parked it in the garageand now i cant get it out with out using a jack. does any one have any idea what i can do to fix this

You are certain that the park brake is fully released?

Take the transmission out of park, it doesn't matter what gear it is in as long as it is not in park. It should roll forward or backward. If not, there is something wrong with your shift linkage. (Of course, this is with the engine NOT running).

im sure its not the brakes, i got her to go into reverse, but it cattches like the park lock is being engaged, however when it though it was goin into drive, it was goin into second gear, i can get it to go into 1st and reverse, but when i do it catches and then doest want to come out of them
