i have a 2.3l with quite a few extra performance parts well the question i want to know is will a c4 tranny from a 5.0 fit the 2.3l even if we changed the bell housing is is there any better tranmissions out there that can handle the horsepower that my car is giving?
Get a C4 from a 5.0, machine the input down or get a bearing that will fit both the input shaft and fit in the 2.3's crank. Then buy a 2.3 to 5.0 bell housing plate adapter

Maybe 20PSI, new computer, new 3" VAM, and some porting will make it faster
all you need to do is swap the bellhousing on the C4. You'll also need the converter for a 2.3. The 5.0 converter won't fit.
You can use a 2.0 C4 bell if you can't find one for a 2.3, you'll just need a set of offset dowels for the block. They're available from a couple of the 2.3 performance vendors.
Sleeper is correct. Stinger is "developing" or it is done. for the 5.0 housing. I think would also let a 2.3 turbo run a 5.0 clutch since some 2.3 turbo people are taking out the 2.3 one. If remember reading. Have to mill input shaft on torque convertor. Do search over at turboford.net to get info straight. I am running the 2.3 bellhousing [pinto era] and pinto torque convertor.
Read the friggen post! The guy specifically says C4. The last time I checked, the C4 was an automatic and the T5 (which Stinger and a couple of others are indeed offering a 5.0 adapter plate for) is a manual trans.
TurboFord.net Forums: STINGER:::: NICE ADAPTER!!1 Will try this again I guess page timed out. They mention flexplate, that is automatic. Booster bruiser as about what trans could be mounted. Stinger said" yes will basically make 2.3 the same as a 5.0 as fr as the rear of the block is concerned. Sound like me can use c-4 with 5.0 bellhousing. He did say a special flexplate would have to be made to make up for his adapter. If I read this wrong please let me how I did. Not making some mad or anything just wanting to learn and inform people correct. Thanks Maurice
The adapter plate does just what they say it does. It adapts the Lima block to Windsor bellhousings. If you want to run Windsor clutches on a manual or torque converters on an automatic, you'll have to have a different flywheel/flexplate. I believe Stinger had contact info for sources for both.
As for turning down an input shaft on a C4, that's a new one on me. Last I checked, the input shaft on an automatic goes into the torque converter, not the back of the crank as Sleeper Inc. indicates.
That is what I last read. To use the adapter would need custom flexplate and torque convertor. On the torque convertor last remember read. Please going by memory on this one. It would take a 5.0 torque convertor, custom stall, and turned down input shaft to match the crankshaft or crank drill out. In other words a custom made torque convertor. The simplest way and way I did. Is the old pinto 2.3/c-4 bellhousing. But they are getting hard to find. Lucky I found 2 for my two projects. The Mustang and 2.3 turbo in a MGB. Thanks Maurice

Post when you know, read when you don't.
Go back and read my post you noob!
ALL 5.0s have the same bolt pattern on the bell housing whether it be the T5 C4, AOD, etc.
Please read when you don't know what your posting about
