Will the transmission from an '89 5.0 fit a '92 2.3?

Have and opp. to swap my 92 2.3 a4ld tranny for an 89 5.0 standard( think it's a 5 speed). Will I need to make any mods and will it work? I just miss the third pedal.LOL

it will fit, but I think that the imput shaft might need to be swaped

Remember that the gearing will be different, the 5.0L tranny has higher ratios because the torque that the 5.0L makes, it doesn't need as much gear to get going. That 4 cylinder will have some trouble getting going unless you change your rear gears.

Problem solved. got whole drive train from a 2.3turbo, standard.

problem not solved both the tranny andthe block were fubared. but found another 2.3 turbo just have to see if the block is good. just bought it
