everyone knows that the 2.3's came with a 85 mph speedometer i was just wondering if i could change the speedometer out and put in a gt speedometer and the 140mph one rear corectly instead of being way off. just wanted to know if they were interchangable.

Yes they are interchangeable. The difference has nothing to do with the drive or driven gear. The difference is in the gauge itself. So, as long as your speedo reads correctly now, the 140 speedo will also read correctly.

so in other words just change the mph plate to the 140mph one instead of changing the whole mph cluster?

No, you have to change the gauge itself,,, putting just the plate on your existing speedo won't work.

you have to change the whole cluster but dont plan on paying 40 bucks for it i've been looking for one for two weeks or so and i cant find one for under 40 bucks before shiping.

thats not a prob, i always see them at the junk yard just never thought of doing it until now that i read about it.
