Angry My block gets really really hot!

wussup everybody, i noticed that after driving short distances my engine begins to heat up alot. today i took a look at the engine and checked the tranny fluid and a drop or 2 fell on to the block and instantly evaported. i was wondering if the problem would be that im using regular gas instead of premium which i always used before i went broke. any suggestions?

Got coolant?

Lean mixtures, EGR not working, fan belt slipping are some things to check. Any codes from the OBD?

Where is the needle on the temp gauge? Also put a new thermostat in.

do you have coolant flow through the water pump? is your water pump pumping? you might want to check to see if some of your water jackets are clogged as well.

Feel the radiator after the engine is warmed up (it should be very hot to the touch) if it isn't i would guess it is the thermostat. Also make sure no debris is on the front of the AC radiator. The 87 octane definitely has nothing to do with it. Also is the engine always hot, or just when you are idling? Because your fan might not be kicking on.
