Default help! need help! custom application.

hey guy's,here it is as short as possibile.we took out and rebuilt the engine and all of the wiring,computer,ect,ect from a 88 thunderbird turbo coupe and some how installed it in a 74 thriump spitfire.it's very tight with major fabracation but thing's are coming along.my question is,this vane meter or whatever this thing is between the air cleaner and throttle body.is there a aftermarket or bypass or anything i can do to downsize this unit????this vane thing has to go in front of the raditator with the intercooler and air cleaner.im just looking for alittle more room to work with.thank's ...al....ps trying to post some pic's..

are you refering to the mass air flow sensor?if so, you can extend the wires to wherever and relocate it,most of them are about the same size..

hey thank's heavy.lenthing the wire's and relocating is the plan,just having a problem where.it is a very tight transformation of this 2.3t setup in this car.if i could post pic's,you would be amazed. thank's again....al.

You mean the VAF (vane air flow) meter. It is what measures the airflow to help schedule injector fuel flow rates. As the vane swings from airflow, it rotates the potentiometer (or wiper) to send a reference voltage to the EEC.

Just try and mount it so that it is level and in the correct position (not sideways, ect)

As for downsizing, the Mercur XRT4i used a smaller one, but it will not work as well.

Also, use a short cone type filter in front of the VAF. It should measure out to something like 3 1/8" at the lip of the VAF.
