Default Ignition coil problem 1993 Mustang

I need a helping hand

I have a 1993 2.3 lt. Engine. The check engine light came on had it check and it showed that I had a bad ignition coil pack. I replace both. Still had the problem. Then I check the coil packs. The coil pack closet to the back of the engine (the lower one) two of the plugholes are not firing. If you are looking at the coil pack, the two on the right are the ones not firing. I need help finding out why those two are not firing. I tested the other three coil packs and each time I plug in for the lower unit it is the same two holes, so I know it is not a bad coil pack. While doing some reading, I found some information about the EDIS ignition module. Which relates to the tach and the coil packs. My tach is not working right for a long time it jumps around and never gives me that correct rpms.
This is where I need some help or what to fix or replace. Could I have a bad EDIS module and this will fix the problem or is it something more serious. How can I check the system for this?

You can take it to an auto parts store that offers testing. The test isn't always accurate and sometimes needs to be run several times in order to heat the module up enough to expose the problem.

The DIS modules aren't cheap, but it sounds like you've got the classic symptoms.

DIS (ignition) module, definitely.

I had the same exact symptom/problems (you can look up my thread). Since then I've replaced mine and it's much better (tach works now and both coils fire) .. though I still have a rough i(vacillating) dle at times .. gonna have to look into that.

BTW the DIS module cost me 160 at autozone, YMMV
