Default 8.8 turbo coupe rear end swap

I have a 1987 2.3l mustang coupe and a 1988 thunderbird turbo coupe donor car and i am in the middle of a rear end swap but the brake lines do not seem to match up. Any suggestions?

A few weeks ago i bought the car and noticed the kid who had it before me put a locker in the stock 7.5" rear end. After im done swapping the 8.8" im going to take out the locker and put the 7.5 in the turbocoupe for the junk yard. does anyone know how much lockers are worth?

By the way im using all the components from the turbo coupe for a 2.3l turbo swap.

Welcome to the site! The fittings would probably be different or the lines different lengths-you'd need to specify what doesn't work. I'd keep the limited slip or locking diff and sell it on Ebay or in the classifieds here instead of throwing away $ to the junkyard. I'd make sure that you don't junk the tbird until you're SURE you have everything you need for the mustang. Don't forget the computer.

The turbocoupe axles have a differant bolt pattern than the Mustang. You'll need to have them re-drilled, or use T-bird wheels.

I would remove the t-lock and sell it seperate from the car. It's not worth a whole lot used, but probably worth $100-150 if you're lucky.

The brake lines in the t-bird are metric, and they're SAE on the Mustang. You need to buy an adapter at NAPA, or fab new lines.

Its good to be here! The fittings are different and the lines from the mustang are too long for the 8.8. I guess i have to buy brake lines from napa. Do they sell tubing to make your own lines?

I thought i was clear but i am keeping the locker. im taking it out of the rear end and then giving them the rear end. And dont worry about me getting the parts i need from the t-bird , i am the proud owner of a 1988 turbo coupe and i have much experience with the 2.3l turbo motors. My brothers each have an SVO and a 5.0 mustang and i have a stock 1992 5.0 lx hatchback, two turbo coupes (a daily driver and the one that is being parted out) and this 2.3l mustang. Im only 20 but ive parted out 2 turbo coupes and an SVO so i have all kinds of turbos and wiring harnesses and engines and computers.

What do you mean the turbo coupe axles have a different bolt pattern than the mustang? i have a set of 4 lug cobra wheels that fit my t-bird and my mustang. The bolt patterns are the same.

I just found this information from searching different posts, " These are 4 lug 10" vented rotors. This is a great swap if you can find the whole rear end! It is a 8.8" rear end, and the stock gear ratio is 3.55 for the manuals, 3.73 for the autos on the Turbo Coupes, and 3.08 on the 93 Cobra. Keep in mind the axle is .75" wider than the stock Mustangs, you will need to adapt the brake lines fittings. The easiest way is to use the drum brake rear hardlines and adapt at the caliper softlines. You need to drill the quad shock mounting holes 2" lower on the T-bird axle for the Mustang. For E-Brake cables, you need to purchase use the FMS cables. If you have a '93 vintage, you need to use the '93 Cobra cables. Ford made the '93 E-Brake cables like the Sn95 units with a center mounting in the tranny tunnel. 93 Cobra E-Brake cable #F3ZZ-2A635-A." from this web site 87-93 Mustang 5.0 Brake upgrade pages. Improve your 60-0 times! but there are a few things that i have questions about.

"you will need to adapt the brake lines fittings. The easiest way is to use the drum brake rear hardlines and adapt at the caliper softlines." I understand that there needs to be an adapter between the mustang hard lines and the turbo coupe disk brake soft lines, but the bigger problem is connecting the rear brake lines to the main line going to the master cylinder. On the turbo coupes the main line is on the left side of the rear end and on the mustang the main line is on the right, so i understand why everyone says to use the mustang lines but they are too long for the disk brake rear end and i cant just cut them can i?

also
"You need to drill the quad shock mounting holes 2" lower on the T-bird axle for the Mustang." this isnt required is it? im a little pressed for time and i need to get it done asap today.

and finally
"For E-Brake cables, you need to purchase use the FMS cables." does that mean i need to buy cables for the E-brake or use the cables from the T-bird because i know that the turbo coupe cables are not the same as the mustangs.

Thanks guys!

while your add it I would replace you front calipers with a 86 svo they are 73mm vs 60 in your car since you will be changing your master cyl. about $50.00 to do
