There seems to be quite a bit of debate on this subject. Some people claim to have good gains in power, others have none. Keep in mind the EGR is there for a reason. Putting small amounts of exhaust back through the engine dilute the oxygen and cut back on combustion temperature and pinging. Since the engine has a knock sensor, removal of the EGR system will cause the knock sensor to hear pinging and the computer will cut the timing back- thus you will lose power and fuel economy. If you disconnect the knock sensor with the EGR blocked off, the computer will continue to use the more agressive timing curve and you will get some nasty pinging on regular and mid-grade gas. You would have to use premium gas. To me, it's not something worth doing. Gutting the air silencer would be a better, cheaper (it's free!) modification to add a little power.
