Default 1993 2.3 liter mustang egr valve block off plate. for more power. yes or no

Will adding an egr block off plate increase performance on my 2.3 liter 1993 mustang. I found this article by googling. will this help of hurt me. Disconnecting the egr pipe & capping it would probably cause a check engine light. so i would think, if this increases power, the plate makes sense as it fools the computer

I think it should help.
I am thinking of trying it. My engine is running hot so I figure this would reduce warm air being brought back through the engine. Please post some results if it works out I will also.

Default EGR delete plate for sale on ebay

I am going to make my own, but I also found this.
It's a bit pricey, For the $ this will save time.

You're right, thinking it'll cause the MIL to come on. That's because, with eliminating the EGR valve, the computer won't be seeing the valve position sensor movement it looks for. I doubt that it'll cause the engine to run bad, though.

Would this be true on an 87-90 speed density car too?

I removed mine yesterday. Everything came of pretty easy (sprayed with PB blaster for a few days before trying) and will be easy to reinstall if needed for emission testing. I had an 86 that I ripped pretty much all the emission controls out of and the car not only passed but passed with flying colors.

I will make the plate and install it later today also picked up a threaded brass cap at home deot to seal the fitting on the manifold.

i am making the block off plate tommorow, just haven't got around to do it yet. if the plate is installed, you can bolt the egr valve back on. the computer should still sense the egr working. so no fault codes. i dont see the need for the brass cap on the exhaust, unless you want to take the egr completely out. if you did that then you would prbably need one of these...
mustang egr eliminator, eBay Motors, 1995 items on eBay.com

i contacted them but they said it works on the 5.0, has not been tested on the 2.3 liter

here is another thought about removing the egr all together....
buy the egr eliminator from ebay
mustang egr eliminator, eBay Motors, 1995 items on eBay.com
find a ranger with the stock pipe header with no egr port. this should be a direct bolt on, more power and no brass cap. the throttle body from the same truck, i am thinking should't have the egr valve and may fit also. add the egr simulator and go. as far as emissions, just buy the stuff you put in the tank, before you go to get tested and you'll pass. here are some usefull links

Installed the plate today didn't notice any changes good or bad but the engine compartment looks better without the egr tubing taking up space.

dont completly remove it. just cut the pipe mid way between the EGR and the manifold and crimp the pipe shut and slide the fire proof sleeve back over (if you have that) and leave the EGR valve still connected so the comp. reg. it. and by doing this it still looks like the EGR is hooked up but its really not. it tricks the Comp. in the car.
