Default What is the difference between a maf and a vam?

I can't find it, to me it seems as if they are the same thing.

Mass air flow is just that. It measures the amount of air passing through the sensor.

Vane Air Flow is a vane that swings with flow and has a wiper (potentiometer) that tell the EEC the position and that tells the EEC how to schedule fuel

can you use both? or is it set up where you can only do that? Sorry if these are simple questions. I used to really be into 8 cyl. engines, but they are so simple, for the most part. where stuff like turbos makes a 4 cyl so much more awesome and fascinating

The answer is no.
