1984 ford mustang gt turbo 2.3 lit. turbo efi 81,117 original miles i think i need an new engine oreither be rebuilt or a different engine the problem is when it was running it made kindda loud clanking... could someone help me with this thanks for your time.

ok was the noise really loud when you shift or what when is it loudest.

can you tell if it's internal or an accessory driven by the belt?

Right when i start the car i have tried everything i think it is in the engine . maybe the rods but some people i know said it might be the valve springs may be bent or something i dont know i have since go and parked the car and now it wont start or anything which was dumb on my part.

probably a dead battery if the noise goes away after you start it then its probably not a knock or valve or it would be louder when you drove it get a compression check on it that should tell you. also you can buy a motor relativly cheap if you find a good one at a junk yard.
