Hey I was just reading around and it seems like it is possible to get better gas mileage with premium gas. But the only way this is possible is if the engine's computer uses a more aggressive timing curve with the premium gas. Has anyone tried premium with the dual plug engine and with what result. I did the math and if i get 2 MPG better it would be worth the price of the premium gas. Just thought this would be kind of cool to try. So what do you you guys think?
Never heard about that, but the only way to know is fill up a couple of times with premium and calculate your mileage driving normally. Then fill up with regular, unless you already know that mileage, and compare.
I use 93 octane in all my cars. Basically, the higher the octane, the better and more controlled burn you have in your combustion chamber, as well as the detergents keep in the gas keep the engine and fuel system running clean.
Since i got my 93 stang in Feb, my MPG is up by about 20 miles from using 93 octane.
I get 22 mpg town driving, with no highway driving. Just recently I got 24 mpg with about 130 of the 223 being highway. I have in the past when I was driving almost all highway 30 mpg. I would probably show more if I ran it emptier, but when the needle dips below the 1/4 tank, I don't feel like walking, lol. Based on the 24 mpg, I should be able to get 360 miles on a tank, but that is running things too close.
i never got a clear answer, how big are the tanks on these cars? i get 25 mpg, and try to fill it around 250 cause the guage dont work, so its possible to run it longer?
i have a 93 convertible. i got about 220 miles per tank on 87. been running 93 for a month or two, and i get about 280 miles before filling. also, kinda surprised to see 15 gallons listed as the size of the tank. i let my guage get to e and i've never put in more than 11.5? does it really hold that much past the e?

I have a 87 n/a, with an 89 engine. i get about 315 miles to a tank cause my gauge don't work i usually fill up around 300. Also its a killer on gas. The car takes about 14 gallons to fill, close to 60 bucks which is a killer.
id say i get about 27 miles per gallon tho.
