Hey guys i'm at an impasse as to what's wrong with my 91 2.3L lx hatchback with an automatic trans. When i'm driving, around 60-80km/h the engine bogs down and i have no power. it sounds almost as if the tranny and engine arent connecting. it only seems to happen right before the tranny is about to shift to next gear, aroung 3-5000RPMS. Is this a common problem? Moreso, there arent any leaks anywhere other than some slight sweating around oil pans. fluid levels are all fine, but i can't seem to find whats wrong. PLEASE HELP!

Welcome to the site,enjoy!!!! I suggest to check the basics first..,plugs,wires,fuel filter,air filter....and maybe check fuel pressure...Do you have any codes?

Yes, plugs, wires, fuel filter are all new from a few months ago. I replaced the Ignition module not too long ago as well, as it gave me problems. As for codes, the Engine light comes and goes. it came on once, went out, came back then stayed off. when it bogs down, i give it gas and nothing happens for a few seconds, until it kicks in. This problem, it came on suddenly too, i back down my driveway, then went in drive and notice it had no power, then drove it and waas fine for a little while till it bogged out. Is it possible I blew an injector or something like that?

Hi,

Did you have the codes read? Also, did you check for fuel pressure? It may be a sign of your fuel pump starting to fail.

hey guys. turns out it was my mass air flow sensor. it had come disconnected some how during driving. that was one weird problem. anywhoo, thanks for your insight guys.
