Default 2.3 30 thousandths over, and Stroked?

Ive come to the decision that my 2.3 Turbo needs a Rebuild. Ide like to bore it over 30 thousandths.

My question is, will a 2.5 crank fit in the 2.3 or are the mains different?

If I remember correctly, yes, a 2.5L crank and rods will fit in a 2.3L motor. Bear in mind that if you do this you are in effect "stroking" the motor. This will raise the compression ratio in your engine; by how much I am not sure OTOMH. Also, the fact you are going .030 overbore will also reduce your compression. I know turbo's like about 8 to 1 compression, and may go up to 9 to 1. Sicne you are stroking and boring, the numbers will need to be checked with your machine shop.

Good luck!!

I want to do that to mine when I finally get around to rebuilding the bottom end on mine, but haven't researched it enough.

The crank will fit, sorta. The 2.5 crank is a small main journal crank. If your current block is a '91 or newer, it'll drop right in. If it's an older block, you'll need to get the main bearing spacers from Esslinger to use with the small journal bearings.
